After winning three matches against lower seeded players, Venus Williams was beaten quite comprehensively in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 by France’s Tatiana Golovin in Bausch & Lomb Tennis Championships.
Not only she struggled throughout the match with unforced errors and ground strokes but powerful serve, which is her strong point, was also missing from Venus’ game. She lost the first set in the matter of half an hour. Second set was all about Golovin as at one point of time she was leading 4-0 but then Venus fought back and won the next three games. But that was it for Williams as Golovin won the next two games and clinched the match.
This victory means that Golovin will now face sixth-seed Ana Ivanovic in the semi finals, Ivanovic was just too good for second seed Jelena Jankovic in the other quarterfinal.
